Regular check-ups and cleanings are an important part of your oral health regimen, and we use state-of-the-art technology to make the process as comfortable as possible. In most cases, a cleaning will take place at the same appointment as an examination.

The Process
We’ll start by discussing your medical and dental history, including any history of gum disease. You’ll be asked about any prior sensitivities during cleans, and where in the mouth these are located. We’ll do a thorough examination, including any necessary external and panoramic (OPG) X-rays and intraoral photos, to locate cavities, areas of decay and gum disease.
Dr Ash (Dentist) will let you know what she found and explain the cause of the problem, as well as what can be done to help. We strive to answer all your questions, so you can understand what’s going on and be active in your dental health.
For your cleaning, we use the latest technology to offer the best cleaning possible, with less discomfort than traditional methods. We use the EMS Airflow® machine to clean, scale and remove stains. We also clean between the teeth and use a hand scaler to remove any stubborn plaque. We finish with a prophylaxis polish and a fluoride treatment for all patients.
The Airflow machine allows us to access areas, such as underneath the gums, to provide a more thorough cleaning. It also removes stains much more effectively than traditional methods.
Customised Care
We generally recommend getting a check-up and clean every six months. However, if you have ongoing gum disease or other oral health concerns, we may recommend you come in more frequently. Our recommendations will be based on your specific oral health needs.
