International Women’s Day on 8 March is a day to celebrate the achievements of women, whether social, political, economic or cultural. IWD has occurred for over 100 years, with the first IWD gathering in 1911 supported by more than a million people. Today, IWD belongs to all groups collectively everywhere, and is not country, group or organization specific.According to the IWD website, “The day also marks a call to action for accelerating women’s equality.” This year, the theme is Cracking the Code: Innovation for a gender equal future.
What the Day Means
The purpose of IWD is to recognise how far we’ve come towards gender equality, and also to focus on bridging the gaps in how far we have left to go. IWD sees various MISSIONS to help establish a gender equal world.
We want to help celebrate women’s achievements and increase visibility, while calling out inequality. That’s why we want to showcase how we #EmbraceEquity at Shenton Park Village Dental!
